The Front Porch – September 2026

Posted on September 16, 2026 by Miller and Smith Blog Team

White text on a red background reads the FRONT PORCH with a house icon above the word FRONT. The style is bold and modern.

Giving Back to the Community

The annual HBCF Community Outreach Breakfast brings together community leaders and nonprofit champions for a morning of meaningful connection and insight into how HBCF supports nonprofits with cost-effective, shelter-related construction solutions.

Miller & Smith’s COO & partner, Tom Hyde, is on the board of directors for the Home Builders Care Foundation (HBCF) and participated on the panel at this annual breakfast.

This year on June 5, HBCF was honored to welcome dedicated builders, housing advocates, delegates, councilmembers and nonprofit leaders, all working toward stronger communities.

The panel shared their first-hand knowledge and expertise that sparked meaningful conversations about how HBCF and its partners collaborate to create safe, affordable, and supportive housing solutions for those in need.

Bi-Annual Miller & Smith Planning Conference

For decades and twice a year, Miller & Smith has been holding intense, thought-provoking, and organizational planning meetings to bring together the department heads of the company to share plans, make sure all budgets are accurate, discuss timing of current and upcoming communities.

This time together is not only helpful but meaningful as it’s a chance to share best practices, to learn about field challenges and to brainstorm solutions, to hear about new floorplans and products to make each and every experience more seamless for its customers.

We held our most recent in-office gathering on the last Friday of August. Everyone left the room with enthusiasm, direction, and a sense of confidence knowing that the team is on the same page.

Green Herons Enjoy Belmont Bay, Too

Recently spied marching on the seawall of the Belmont Bay Marina, this young heron – a recent hatchling, was enjoying the delightful breeze of a summer day in Woodbridge, where the Occoquan and Potomac rivers converge.

The sights and sounds of wildlife abound in this glorious waterfront community. Miller & Smith designed spacious, multi-level townhomes to help its owners take in all that nature (and their gorgeous new townhomes) has to offer.

Belmont Bay is about 20 miles south of the District and offers ease of commuting with I-95 and the VRE (Virginia Railway Express), basically a stone’s throw away.

Final Opportunity to Purchase at Birchwood at Brambleton

With just a few 55+ elevator townhomes remaining, Miller & Smith concludes construction in this Loudoun County master-planned community.

We truly saved the best for last! If you had thought about calling to tour our model, you’d best do it quickly before these final homes sell out. He is by appointment only and there is no model to tour so should we say this?

Birchwood offers its residents easy access to everyday necessities, great dining opportunities, resort-style amenities, and miles of  trails for even more outdoor activities.

The Townes at West Main

This fall, Miller & Smith is preparing to make its triumphant return to Frederick County with this limited, 27 townhome community on West Main Street in New Market.

Keep your eyes peeled for the start of sales.

In the meantime, please enjoy a short video with Eric, community sales manager, as he explores the quaint downtown area.

New Floorplan, The Maison, is drawing a crowd at Sadler Square

A single-family home in the low-$600s in Glen Allen, Virginia! Yes. You read that correctly. Tucked just off Sadler Road, Sadler Square’s offerings include stunning homes and three models to tour!

Here, you’re just minutes from terrific shopping and dining options and Richmond is an easy commute.

Isn’t it time to visit?
