Eden Brook is a special place for 55 and forward homeowners.
A community that celebrates all the adventure life has to offer, while making sure you have everything right at home.
Inside every elevator townhome is all the space and luxury one could hope for, including your inviting great room, your inspirational kitchen, and your indulgent owner’s suite with massive walk-in closet.
And outside, you’re in the middle of a picturesque community, full of life and vitality and convenience with Downtown Columbia right down the street.
But there are far more explorations to be had in Columbia and beyond. Here are some of our favorite nearby adventures from your Eden Brook home:
Just 6 minutes away from Eden Brook is the Robinson Nature Center. This award-winning, 23,000 sq. ft. nature center has all sorts of things for you to enjoy: interactive exhibits on local wildlife, habitats, and the Chesapeake Bay, and a domed digital nature theater. Outside, you can explore native plants and rain gardens around the center’s many paths. Follow a trail all the way to the Middle Patuxent River and the historic Simpsonville Mill. Plus, with a children’s discovery room, the Robinson Nature Center is a great place to take the grandkids for a fun-ducational experience.
Enjoy Live Music and Theater
Nothing beats the excitement of a live music performance. At Eden Brook, you’re less than 10 minutes away from two fabulous live venues. When you crave the best in live music spanning all ages and genres, look no further than Merriweather Post Pavilion—where bands, orchestras, and solo acts all come to share their talents. And if you want more story with your music, then visit Toby’s Dinner Theatre. For over 40 years, Toby’s has combined Broadway-caliber performances with a delicious buffet-style dinner that will make you shout, “Encore!” (but only after you’ve swallowed your food).
A 14-minute drive and the worries of the world will disappear, when you visit the serene waters of Centennial Lake. This 50-acre freshwater lake is a perfect place to fish for largemouth bass, catfish, rainbow trout, and sunfish. Seasonal boating is available by permit for those Eden brook dwellers with motors. Rowboats and canoes are available for rent at the boathouse. And, at one end, there’s a wildlife sanctuary to make sure the lake life is cared for and protected.
Treehouses aren’t for just kids anymore! Get up in the air at The Adventure Park, an “aerial forest adventure” less than 25 minutes away from your front door. With 15 separate courses of varying difficulty—perfect for climbers ages 5 and up—you’ll navigate all sorts of tree- and rope-based obstacles and zip lines. Safety harnesses and training included! Challenge yourself to quite literally reach new heights as you go up into the trees for an adventure like no other.
For a calmer adventure that lets you explore the area’s history, head about 30 minutes to the C&O Canal—well, part of it anyways. This 184.5-mile long slice of history started construction in 1828, and spent almost 100 years transporting coal, lumber, and agricultural products from Washington, D.C. to Cumberland, MD. Hike the towpath, tour the visitor’s centers, meet the mules, and take a step back in time as you experience one of the most important links to our area’s prosperity.
Now we’re getting a little farther out. But the 1.5-hour drive is certainly worth it to visit the quaint tranquility of St. Michaels, MD. With some homes and its harbor dating back to the mid-1600s, it’s no wonder it’s been named one of the Top 10 Best Small Coastal Towns in America by USA Today. Get ready for sailing, bicycling, and golfing in an idyllic locale. When you’re done, explore the eclectic boutique shopping and exceptional restaurants featuring some of the freshest seafood in the area.
Eden Brook is central to every sort of adventure, including skiing! Less than 3 hours of driving, and you can be swooshing down the slopes of a number of ski destinations (Wisp Resort and Liberty Mountain, to name two). Imagine heading out after breakfast and being able to hit the slopes by lunchtime! Skiing, snow tubing, and resort-style lodging and dining are all waiting for you. The best way to enjoy the majesties of winter.
Of course, the best part of all these adventures is coming back to your Eden Brook home. Time to create some memories!
